So...What does a CSO actually DO anyway?

What I’ve been up to…

  • Attended two conferences, Marketing Social Change and Supporting Students Through the Economic Downturn.
  • Visited WIT student’s union.
  • Organised all of the dates for the different campaigns and events into the different weeks.
  • In the middle of setting up a Green Campus Society to try and make the University more environmentally friendly.
  • Looking into a Park and Ride facility for the University to help cut down on car parking on campus.
  • Got flags and a gazebo for the Union to advertise any event, campaign, to sell tickets from and to better market its services.
  • Put up snap frames in the Union for posters. This will tidy up the look of the Union.
  • In middle of organising the Fresher ball, one big UK act booked and more being booked as we speak.
  • A new service being brought in- ID photos will be sold in reception from September. €6 for 4 photos will see passport quality photos being sold for students.
  • There will also be a Bluetooth service in place where Union info can be sent to students in the courtyard. Student will also be able to avail of promotional offers from companies through this service. We can send text, photos, videos and MP3s!
  • Graduation tickets are selling fast, and we have organised a DJ and band for it.
  • I have been in talks about setting up a Cinema in UL for students, showing old classics in a lecture theatre for only €2.
  • Johnny Flynn booked for Monnet for Wednesday, 22 September 2010.
  • Meetings with tons of different people including Don Barry, Buildings and Estates etc……….
  • Designed Logos for ENTS and Alcohol Free ENTS
  • Laptop locks are available in O’ Mahoney’s for €12. Will fit on most laptops, and can be put around legs of the tables in Library.
  • Sent letters out for sponsorship for the Nitelink to businesses in the area.
  • Videoed the different routes of the Nitelink to make a video to put on youtube.
  • Set out letters looking for sponsorship of phone chargers for phonecharger service.

Also things that have happened or will be happening
